The Thrift Shop

Special Occasion Dress Sale
The Junior League of York hosted the Special Occasion Dress Sale on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the West Manchester Mall.

The Junior League of York partnered with the Public Relations Student Society of America’s (PRSSA) chapter at YCP for the first-ever Special Occasion Dress sale in September. Members from both groups gathered, sorted, priced and transported dresses from JLY Headquarters to the former B. Moss store in West Manchester Mall, where a small line of ladies had formed before the sale began at 10 a.m. Sept. 20. Inside, an array of colorful balloons identified the racks of clothing by size. Between the two organizations, some 30 ladies helped in some respect, whether picking up dresses, transporting dresses, sorting and pricing dresses, or working the day of the sale.

Thanks to the many shoppers the Special Occasion Dress Sale was a brought in nearly $2000. With the success of the Special Occasion Dress Sale, the JLY is planning a Prom Dress Blowout Sale on Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22 at the West Manchester Mall.

The Junior League of York is currently collecting gently worn dresses, including evening wear, cocktail, prom, bridesmaid and bridal dresses for the event. In addition, accessories including shoes, purses, jewelry, wraps, etc. can be donated to this sale. Items may be dropped off at JLY Headquarters at 166 W. Market St. Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.
