Holiday Toy Sale

For 33 years, the Junior League of York has sponsored an annual Holiday Toy sale at a location in downtown York. This sale provides an opportunity for members of the York community to buy new and gently used toys at a reasonable price for the children in their lives.

The toys are collected from individuals as well as from collection boxes at local businesses.  Volunteers from the Junior League and the community work together to set up the items and conduct the sale on a Saturday morning.

In 2006 the sale raised over $1,900 which is used to fund projects in the community.  This fundraiser is unique because it satisfies a two-fold purpose: the sale itself helps community residents and the proceeds benefit community projects.

The sale also provides the League with opportunities to partner with other local organizations to distribute the unsold toys. The York Jaycees gained toys to distribute at a breakfast with Santa being hosted for underprivileged children. The St. Mary's Thrift Shop and the League’s Thrift Shop also received toys to sell in their shops.

The sale takes place each December with the intention to continue increasing support from and for the York community.

This year's 36th Annual Toy Sale will take place Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Asbury United Methodist Church at 9 a.m.
