Located on the Pershing Street side of the Junior League Thrift Shop is one of the Murals of York. This mural commemorates the fact that the Articles of Confederation for the United States of America was signed while the Continental Congress met in York for nine months. For this reason, York, Pa., claims the distinction of being “First Capitol” of the United States of America. The Junior League of York is proud to support the community’s local heritage by providing the wall location for this mural.      

The artist’s original oil rendition is framed and hanging in the JLY Headquarters’ meeting room on the second floor of the building.
