Little Black Dress Initiative

Join us for Little Black Dress Initiative

Can you imagine getting ready for work and only having one outfit to wear for the entire week? For many in York County, that’s a reality. But we can work together to change that.

The Junior League of York is hosting the 2018 Little Black Dress Initiative to raise awareness of poverty in our community and collect funds that will help us continue to support those struggling to rise above it.

Junior League members and community members are challenged to wear the same outfit to work for an entire week starting on Monday, Nov. 5. During that week, those who participate in the Little Black Dress Initiative will wear a pin, encouraging people to ask them about their outfit, while also posting photos on social media using #LBDIYork and sharing their experience.

Participants are encouraged to raise individual funds through Click and Pledge. You can register your fundraising page here by clicking on "Become a Fundraiser" on the bottom right of the page. The member who raises the most will receive two FREE tickets to our Black and White Gala on April 6th. We're also giving away two FREE tickets to any community member who also raises the most, so encourage your co-workers, neighbors, and friends to sign-up, too!

The money raised through this initiative will help the Junior League of York continue to provide community resources to help those in York and York County.

Kick-Off Event

Join us from 5 to 8 pm Monday, November 5th at the Handsome Cab in York for our Little Black Dress Initiative Kick Off Party. Admission is $25 and includes heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. No need to get dinner elsewhere!
